Principal's Welcome

September 7, 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to another exciting year at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School - a very special place. A place where our students continue to grow and learn in a student-centered environment with a caring staff and school community around each of them. As the principal of Our Lady of Sorrows School, I would like to sincerely welcome you to our wonderful school. I hope that everyone has stayed healthy and safe during these unprecedented times.

The last two years, more than ever, we have had to rely on our school community and our Faith to help guide us along during these times and unknown circumstances. It is during these times that we are able to see how the relationships between home, school, church and community are needed to help support our most treasured gifts; our students.

During this pandemic and with our educational journey, our goals remain rooted in all that we do. We aspire to create a learning environment that embraces the development of the whole child, including academic, social, emotional, spiritual, artistic and physical. We cherish the opportunity to help cultivate each student’s God-given gifts and talents in all areas.

Our Lady of Sorrows is a Catholic school that begins with Junior Kindergarten and continues through eighth grade. Our students embark on an academic journey with the support of a family of teachers, educators and students during their formative years.

At Our Lady of Sorrows School, we value your trust and the privilege of teaching your children. We proudly work closely with students, parents, our Catholic School Advisory Council, staff, Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Holy Spirit Parish and the greater community to help our students meet their fullest potential. We are proud to be a tri-cultural school offering programs in English, French as a Second Language and Native as a Second Language.

We are proud to celebrate that at the heart of all we do is our Catholic Faith. We cherish opportunities to share our faith, always celebrating through prayer, demonstrating our Catholic Virtues and lessons taught through our Grandfather teachings.  We strive to support each student in their personal growth by offering opportunities to become leaders/mentors in their Faith development. We a dynamic staff that looks forward to embarking in an exciting academic journey with all of our students.

As parents, you play an important role in your child’s education. We look forward to working closely with you and value your partnership.  Thank you for considering Our Lady of Sorrows School for your family where we truly strive to be the school, where Education is “Rooted in Faith and Alive in Spirit”.

Yours in Christ,

Stacey Malette
