Supporting Students with Prevalent Medical Conditions in Schools (Anaphylaxis, Asthma, Diabetes, Epilepsy)

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board (NPSC) is committed to creating and supporting safe, accepting, healthy and nurturing learning environments for all students. Our Catholic school community respects, builds upon, and indeed celebrates the uniqueness of the individual, who is created in God’s image.

In accordance with our Gospel values, the Church’s teachings, and in accordance with Policy/Program Memorandum 161, it is the policy of the Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board to promote the safety and well-being of students and establish and maintain a policy to support students in schools who have prevalent medical conditions that have the potential to result in a life-threatening medical emergency. The prevalent medical conditions outlined in this policy include anaphylaxis, asthma, diabetes and/or epilepsy.

This policy has been guided by resources provided by the Ministry of Education and Ontario Education Services Corporation (OESC), including partners.
